In fact, laminate flooring is also used in most luxury homes. Behind all this popularity raises the question: What is this Laminate Flooring?
Laminate flooring is a hybrid flooring made of particle board wood. Unlike hardwoods that often require professional installation, laminate flooring is extremely easy to install. The top of the laminate is waterproof like vinyl flooring. However, the only similarity with vinyl floor is the water impermeability of the top layer. Building blocks are two materials that are quite different from each other and are often confused with “Laminated Parquet” due to their similar names. Content of Laminate Flooring: Laminate flooring was invented in 1977 by the Swedish company Perstorp. This company came up with the idea of obtaining a floor covering by exposing waste wood pieces to high pressure, heat and binding chemicals, and it has been producing laminate flooring with the same system since then. Basically, Laminate Flooring consists of 3 layers. These are as follows;
Wear layer
The wear layer is the thin surface layer impregnated with melamine. This top surface layer is a clear plastic layer that is resistant to dogs, chairs, high heels and other common harmful elements.
Image Layer
Laminate flooring can look realistic even when viewed close-up. This is due to the photographic quality appearance of real wood beneath the laminate’s wear layer. It is also called the decor layer.
Base Layer (Core)
The Base Layer is called HDF. This core layer, made of high-density fiberboard (HDF), is the water-resistant main carrier layer. HDF is obtained by compressing wood fiber with glue and resin.
Laminate flooring is inexpensive compared to laminated flooring and most stone flooring. In terms of price, it can be compared to laminate, luxury vinyl flooring and some ceramic or porcelain tiles.
Laminate flooring has many pros and cons. We will tell you just a few of them: One advantage of laminate flooring is that it is clean and surprisingly scratch resistant. That’s why laminate flooring can be a great floor covering for pet owners with wooden parquet flooring cost. The main disadvantage of laminate is that it is waterproof in itself, but if water gets in between the joints, it can cause the laminate floor to swell.
